First, learning that M. Savages last name was really Weiner made me laugh.
Would that make his show the Weiner-nation? While I will admit that he is
an ass sometimes and goes way overboard most of the time, I will also say
that if what he says is true, then I would support most of his efforts. The
question of what is true and what is not easily comes to mind. If he is
stretching the truth to support his message, then he surely would't be the
first to do so. I think what I do like about him the most is that he has
the energy and is at least doing something. We need angry people out there
- we need activists who are combatting the a**holes who would stand up for a
Padilla in spite of his efforts to kill U.S. citizens. I have often thought
that his diatribe doens't go far enough because talk is talk and in the end
doesn't seem to get us anywhere. But for now, I would support him as
opposed to a Bill O'Reilly, furthermore, I would support someone who was
actually doing something. So rather than berate him for what he does, why
not look at the issues and attack them one at a time so that we can avoid
getting bombed again? As for his take on whites, well, I have to say that
it's nice to have someone say something about whites that isn't bad. It
seems that if you support whites or have pride in being white and wish to
express that you are automatically labeled a racist. Where are those labels
on the asians and blacks when they are wearing their black power t-shirts?

You make a good point about needing energy and activism - I just don't see Savage's style as productively contributing to the public dialogue on issues. As to white pride, I won't go into that, but I've yet to see anything in that area which wasn't just a cover for racism - not saying it isn't possible, but what's the motivation? Joseph, Your letter is a classic, it's going right up on the HateMail page along with the other letters from the gaggle of incoherent lunatics and paranoids that make up Savage's fan base. Hmm... actually, I can trace my ancestry back to the Pilgrims... I had family on both sides of the Revolutionary and the Civil War - my grandma has a copy of the discharge papers for one person. My great uncle was Herbert Hoover, a former President of the United States. I have to go back five generations to have a single immigrant in my ancestry... other branches of my ancestry can't be traced back further than the Tennessee hills. I don't think many people could qualify as much more of a genuine All American Boy than myself. I am a patriot - I believe in the ideals that this country professes and even occassionally lives up to, in its better moments. This includes freedom of speech, at a level of vigor and diversity that no other country would tolerate - this is a GOOD thing. The more speech, the better! This also includes living in a market economy - I've founded two companies, and spent most of my life as an entreprenuer. One of our rights in a market economy is to "vote" or "speak" with our dollars, and with the customers you choose to serve (or not) - and that is all that I am asking visitors to this site, and the companies being targeted, to do. And, in fact - I have no desire to see conservatives exterminated or silenced - I have a documented record of supporting freedom of speech that is second to none. I have put my money where my mouth is numerous times, standing up to censorship attempts by the governments of Germany, Switzerland and Egypt, and anonymous hackers, risking the goodwill of my customers and the health of my business to allow the worst scum imaginable their right to speak freely. In case you're wondering why I don't think Savage's advertisers can claim to be "supporting free speech", the distinction is simple: Zundel choose my company, I did not choose him, or seek out his business. Advertisers on "The Savage Nation" are specifically choosing to "vote" their dollars in support of Savage. ClearChannel is deliberately choosing to promote Savage, because they can make money off him - my company accepted business from everyone who could pay for it, ClearChannel exercises editorial discretion every day in who it chooses to syndicate, and who it chooses to broadcast on the stations it owns. Disney/ABC chooses to broadcast Savage, and not some other personality, on KSFO in the San Francisco Bay Area, for the same reason. Likewise, these companies are choosing to sacrifice the business and dollars that would be gained from my wallet, and the wallets of others who agree with me. Pretty simple, not at all communistic or fascistic, and in fact, I'd say 100% Genuine All American Certified Free Speech.

First of all, I detest the phrase "hate speech." It amounts to nothing more than what could also be considered a thought crime. You don't get your own philosophy. Markets are defined by government, the instantiation of the social contract. Markets in which externalities are internalized, are imperfect, and transfer costs onto third parties. An individual is not free to pollute the air, land, and water, if their actions impose costs on third parties. Dumping pollutants in the air results in randomized harm to third parties that cannot be internalized within a market exchange. The cost of "cancer" to a single individual cannot be remediated by the payment of a fine or a "pollution fee" to the government, a charity, etc. Nor can the cost of an undermined ecosystem that affects the oxygen content of the atmosphere or the water level of the oceans. Thus "ecological wisdom" dictates that pollution be minimized, which requires a limitation on the freedom of the individual. A classic example is a fireplace. Burning logs in a fireplace, and spewing smoke out the chimney, would seem to be totally within your rights. Except that the smoke drifts onto your neighbor's property, and since they are asthmatic and massively allergic, prevents them from making free use of it. They cannot sit outdoors on their porch, and must pay to install an expensive filter system to clean the air before it is brought indoors. The alternative is to require the fireplace user to: a) cease and desist usage of their fireplace (obviously an impingment on their freedom) b) install some kind of anti-pollution system that absorbs all the pollutants A decision that balances the rights of each party must therefore be made. A reasonable person would agree that, operating on the basis of minimum restrictions, the loss of liberty and use of property in the second case would be the lesser of the two evils. Government (the instantiation of the social contract, which is the agreement that defines how a society shall work) is the vehicle through which this decision is made. The alternative is barbarism, or rule by force. As for the rest of your comments, they amount to the right wing libertarian equivalent of politically correct claptrap. Non-violence in no way denies anyone the right to the use of force in self-defense.

The facts are that corporate Amerikka, which is run by the most rabidly conservative types imaginable, will never permit a radically liberal voice to succeed in radio without a legislative mandate to do so. The Green Party, the most authentically radically liberal voice in American politics, is growing every day too. We've successfully elected more members to office than any other existing third party, including the radically conservative "Constitution Party" (and its various affiliates... talk about a "futile" effort) or the Libertarian Party. Thanks for taking the time to write. No one is entitled to broadcast hate over a nationwide network of radio stations. Savage's commercial sponsors *choose* to support his show and thereby enable him to spew his mysogynistic and homophobic cant. His syndicator and employer *choose* to distribute and to employ him. Therefore, I choose not to buy from his sponsors, and to encourage others to not buy from them, using the power of the free market to render his show economically unviable. Similarly, I encourage others to voice their opinions and raise the cost of helping Savage spew. Censorship is when the government is used to restrict the ability of someone to speak. Effective censorship can occur when a small group of very powerful individuals (media moguls) choose to broadcast only one perspective, or to exclude certain perspectives (as happens today on AM radio, among other mediums) - but this is significantly different from state sanctioned censorship, which prevents any expression whatsoever. Savage is entitled to speak freely, but neither he, nor I, are *entitled* to do anything more than shout on a street corner - his ability to broadcast over the radio, and my ability to put up the SavageStupidity.Com web site, are both the product of our ability to locate a medium and sponsors through which our statements can be broadcast and amplified. I'm not claiming I'm being censored because I don't have my own radio talk show host (though I do claiim that my *viewpoint* is being effectively censored by conservative corporate media who deliberately and consciously prevent "liberal", let alone "leftist", talk show hosts from being heard). No one is trying to "censor" or "silence" Savage - no power of the state is being exercised or invoked to lock him up or shut him up. Even if his radio show goes off the air, he'll still be able to rant via his web site, via email to his supporters, and to solicit contributions from his supporters to buy airtime, etc. from those companies that choose to do business with him and bear the cost of lost business otherwise.

Too often the Left, quickly places a "hate" label on any form of speech that is opposed to their view in an effort to discount opposing opinion. What should be done with those who hold opposing opinions? A re-education camp, or a gulag for refuseniks, perhaps? We live in a free market, as a "rich guy" who has done very well as a capitalist, you know that better than anyone. The economic boycott is a time tested method of achieving an end, but why boycott free speech? By boycotting Savage, you effectively boycott free speech, and that Thomas, is shameful. Let the market decide, if the majority of his audience thinks he's wrong, they won't listen, and the show will die on the vine.

Another young woman was 14, and she was straight, but had a bisexual mother, and was proud of her. And all these young people (along with a lot of adults as well) will be visiting other schools and organizations, talking about their lives and educating students (and others) about "homosexuality", with the result that more and more people will understand and accept it. But I agree with Michael Savage when he says that immigrants are ruining our nation. It seems like you folks love immigrants. I live in an apartment complex full of Chinese (or as I call them, Chi-coms). They hate us white Americans. All my neighbors will stab me in the back any chance they get. I have a couple of white friends who live on the street (thats right , I hang out with homeless people, because the immigrants have made it impossible for them to live like normal people). I invited them to my home to get drunk and watch "Full Metal Jacket", NASCAR racing, and VH1 classic. The next day I received a phone call from my Chinese landlord. She said that my friends couldn't come over anymore. Seems that we were singing Beatles and Rolling Stones songs too loud and it was disturbing the Chi-coms. So now I have to meet them at a nearby park, but the park is infested with Micronesians (Microbes) who leave their trash on the ground ten feet from the trash can and, my dog chokes on their chicken bones and other garbage. What you see posted is exactly what I replied to each of the emails in question. When I have received a response and replied to it, I have posted that as well. Most people apparently are not interested in a "debate", and never reply... in fact, almost all of them. I'm not hiding behind anything. If someone is an idiot, and a homophobe, I'm going to say it. You'll also notice that on the rare ocassions that a Savage fan is able to coherently string two sentences together, I've responded to their postings in great detail. I don't see how this represents anything less than an honest and open debate in a public forum. The principle behind the "Fairness Doctrine" is simple, and sound: ensure that the airwaves are accessible by all points of view. Currently, two "liberal" talk show hosts that are distributed by i.e. America across the nation, have no outlet in the Bay Area, despite commercial success elsewhere - if the Fairness Doctrine was in place, they would have an opportunity to be heard, and to prove themselves commercially viable.

Isn't it interesting that our major ally in the Middle East, one that we've sold billions of dollars worth of high tech weaponry to, Saudi Arabia, was the home country of most of the 9/11 terrorists? Not Iraq, not Afghanistan, not Lebanon or the Palestinian territories or refugee camps? This may surprise you, but yes, I have no problem getting on a bus with a Muslim wearing a backpack... in fact, tens of thousands of Muslim schoolchildren ride the bus to school every day. There are millions of Muslims in this country. Aside from 9/11, not one incident of domestic terrorism can be ascribed to the American Muslim community - if the country is being flooded by America haters, why aren't we seeing more attacks? It seems to me that most Arabs and Muslims come here to get away from the economic and political repression we've fostered in their home countries, and if we'd quit propping up corrupt dictatorships, many of those trying to get here would be happy to stay home, and many others would return. Perhaps you haven't noticed that we have plenty of home grown American Nazi's and extreme right wing religious nutcases preaching the destruction of America and the west, as well... the Southern Poverty Law Project has extensively documented their preparations for acts of domestic terrorism. Why are we hearing nothing about the threat they represent? As for closing the borders, well, I think anyone who has paid attention over the last twenty years will realize the futility of that. The only thing closing the borders will do is harm those people who come here seeking freedom... the real terrorists won't be deterred by the INS.

At the very least, thank you for being honest about wanting to make some cash; this is the same reason why Savage has his talk show. You claim to be tired of hearing Savage "spew vicious bile...". So what? If you don't like it, you don't have to listen to it. I don't like to hear liberals rant and rave about their agenda, so I just turn them off. It's true that talk radio is overwhelmingly conservative in content, but you purposely forget the OTHER media that is not conservative, much more influential and attracts millions of zombies: television. With the exception of The Factor on Fox, your agenda is presented in a more liberal fashion than I could ever hope to describe in this piece. Do you realize that radio has eclipsed television in profitability as of this decade? What's your explanation for an increase in popularity, ratings, and revenue for such shows as Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, and other conservative conversationalists? Don't blame it on "media moguls"; I'll just rhetorically use the same argument about the idiot box. The listeners are what's making these hosts the stars that they are. Perhaps you misread my site - do you hear me call for the government to intervene in any way shape or form? No. I am simply calling on my readers to engage in an economic and social boycott of those sponsoring and broadcasting "The Savage Nation". The sponsors (as many have done so far) are free to ignore this effort, and simply bear the costs of doing so. It seems to me that Michael Savage would be a far more appropriate person to quote Franklin in relationship to: he's busy advocating that we sacrifice our liberties for greater security; specifically targeting Arab and Muslim men for racial profiling by the GOVERNMENT is far more dangerous and a far greater sacrifice of liberty than calling for people to use their economic leverage in the free market, and their freedom of speech to appeal to the ethics of advertisers and broadcasters (as I am doing). Nor, even when I do advocate for government intervention, do I do anything except ask for a modicum of equal time. You claim TV is not conservative - and yet, the number of minorities, and openly gay people on TV is miniscule... and even a simple kiss between two women or two men is terribly "risque" and controversial. How is this not "conservative"? Pacifica News Network and Indymedia exist, because of a documented anti-progressive bias in ALL mainstream media (tv, radio, print). The same media moguls who consciously and deliberately deprive "liberals" (let alone radicals) of any exposure on the talk radio dial, even when they've been proven to be economically viable. Why in the world would you assume I'm affiliated with GLAAD? There are dozens upon dozens of queer advocacy organizations, none of which have memberships that amount to more than a tiny minority of the queer population as a whole. I'm aware of GLAAD, and appreciate their advocacy efforts - Dr. Laura poses a threat to the physical well being of gay people everywhere; hate has no place on TV or in the radio, and her show ultimately failed because her message was not attractive or interesting to even a significant minority of the TV viewing audience. Thus proving that the average American has more sense than the average Savage fan. Few in the ‘media’ understand or say much about that possibility. We need a reminder of some facts. 1. God was not surprised on 9-11. In fact, if it was his will, 9-11-01 events could have been diverted. With God, the creator of the universe, all things are possible. Proof that He knows the beginning and the end of time are clearly seen in Bible prophesy fulfilled. Now we can see the unfolding of prophesy involving the Jews homeland restoration in our lifetime. I think many know or sense this and have turned to God seeking to be restored, to be in His will, and to receive His forgiveness. God is our only reliable defense of terrorism, or any number of unavoidable ills. Most agree that 9-11 was a spiritual wake up call for America. Many will re-think, and return to God. Many will not. 2. God in the past has disciplined, destroyed, and restored His people with ‘unbelievers’ who worship false, un-provable, or multiple ‘Gods’. In the Bible, God disciplines His loved ones. Why not discipline America too. 3. Many do not know the characteristics of God who loves us, who died on the cross for our salvation, and who cannot tell a lie. Many do not know how He has disciplined his people He loves. Many do not know Jesus, the messiah, is God. Many do not know the characteristics of Satan as the father of lies, the accuser of the believers, or the masterful deceiver. Satan wants to be in the ‘short’ staring roll of being worshiped in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. God has told us in Revelations that this will happen. Probability theory predicts 100 percent that His word is truth. Just as hundreds of past predictions were accurately fulfilled, future events predicted will also happen. Can any other religious belief claim that? 4. We are in a spiritual battle, the people of the world are the pawns and the prize. We need to know how and who to fight. We need to know that Satan is the Enemy, that we need all the spiritual tools we can muster to fight this foe. In many ways, the worshipers of the false ‘Gods’ know our faults and failures. They can easily point fingers at the trail of Satan in America. Are they trying to rip ‘In God We Trust’ from their beliefs? In fact we all come short of the glory of God and in fear and trembling we ask for our salvation. We must rebuild our knowledge of God’s truth, convert and convince our neighbors here and abroad with that truth. The battle is won with each that believe Jesus Christ is Lord. If I know one thing, it is that I'm sure not going to support this guy's "side" with my prayers and actions... I prefer my Gnostic tradition, which says that evil is real, that it is the product of a flawed creation, and that God is a transcendant consciousness with which we can unite and escape the suffering of the world.
