Soundbite Gallery - October 4th, 2002
Samples from October 4th, 2002 edition of "The Savage Nation"
- Barbara Baghdad Boxer - a Savage trademark, "funny" nicknames for targets of attack. -- WAV version --
- Borders, Language, Culture - just wanted to get an actual sample of him saying this. -- WAV version --
- "Does he or doesn't he? Only his proctologist knows for sure." - exactly what is Michael implying here? Sounds like he's accusing Wolf Blitzer of being gay (as if that were a bad thing)... is Savage homophobic? You judge. -- WAV version --
- "Any vocal enemy of the Savage Nation is a friend to our enemies." - anyone who disagrees with Michael is a traitor? So much for "freedom of speech" in Savage's new America. -- WAV version --
- Michael says "I am as center as you're going to get in this country." - the "reality distortion field" grows ever stronger, it appears. -- WAV version --
- "They (Islamic culture) have created nothing in a thousand years." - for a thorough debunking of this idea, see Muslim Scientists and Islamic Civilization ... let us also not forget that areas of India have been ruled by or populated by majorities of Muslims for centuries - the Taj Mahal (universally acclaimed as one of the world's great works of architectural design) was built by a Muslim, Emperor Shah Jahan at Agra, India, and completed in 1648 C.E.; this is approximately 650 years after Savage claims Muslim culture lost its ability to create anything of significance. -- WAV version --
- "Islamo-fascism is a death worship cult." - Savage has a talent for snappy soundbites; note: Savage is really inconsistent about making distinctions between Islamic culture and Muslims as a whole, and the lunatic fundamentalist segment of it (as shown in the quote directly above this one), although he's clearly aware that such a distinction exists. At best, this is careless, at worst, it is criminally irresponsible and paints an entire group of people with one broad brush that he claims to know doesn't apply. I hope one of his Muslim guests calls him on this. -- WAV version --
- "...only 30% of the people [in Marin County] are human beings, 70% of them are Democrats..." - if Democrats don't qualify as human beings, I wonder where Green Party members fall on the evolutionary scale? :) Seriously, the first step to fascism and genocide is to deny the humanity of a class of people. -- WAV version --
- "There's no such thing as racial profiling! It's the biggest lie of our time." - I suggest that Savage walk into a church or community gathering South Central Los Angeles or East L.A. and start yelling that... I'm sure he'd get an earful from the average citizens who believe otherwise (he, of course, claims that self-serving community leaders are pushing this, and that the average person doesn't agree with them). -- WAV version --
- "Only a more savage nation can survive..." - Savage goes off about all the perceived evils weakening American society: feminization of the American male, homosexualization of the American male, promiscuity, pacifism, etc. -- WAV version --
- "The radical rabid mad dog left..." - another trademark Savage witticism -- WAV version --
- Savage on the ACLU - he really does have a thing for New York lawyers, particularly Brooklynite ones - what is that about? Half-a-dozen references in today's show alone... -- WAV version --
- Reverend Jesse High Jackson - another Savage nickname -- WAV version --
- "trickle down immorality" - another one of Savage's gifts to the lexicon of American politics. Pretty good one, I have to admit, although the core premise behind it is about as valid as Reagan's "trickle down economics". -- WAV version --
- "We need a House Un-American Activities Committee, we need another Senator McCarthy..." - Savage is trying to rehabilitate McCarthy! What planet is this man from?!? -- WAV version --
- "We need another brave Senator, like McCarthy, whom history has proven to be a loyal patriot." - uh, I think not... -- WAV version --
